Keep an Eye Out for Rotting Wood

Rotting wood can easily go unnoticed, unless you specifically look for it in your home. Unfortunately, wood rot can spread, making it especially dangerous to your home’s wooden building materials. Sometimes you can clearly see rotten wood, as you can in this picture of a roof from a recent inspection. But other times it's not as clear. Just make sure the wood is not soft when you press on it.
